Project Overview

2life is an innovative ecommerce marketplace designed to connect buyers and sellers in the fashion industry while rethinking the disposal of unwanted clothing. In a market where 92 million tonnes of textile waste are produced annually, the platform aims to transform excess fashion into valuable resources. Through engaging ads and streamlined order processes, 2life facilitates a community-driven approach to buy, sell, and repurpose fashion items. As the Full Stack Developer, I developed new modules that advanced the client’s vision and enhanced the overall functionality of the platform.

Challenges

The existing site was plagued by:

• Persistent bugs and system errors
• Missing core ecommerce functionalities
• An outdated user interface (UI) that hindered user engagement

The primary challenge was to overhaul the platform to deliver a modern, bug-free, and fully functional ecommerce experience.

Solution

To tackle these issues, I led a complete technical refresh of the platform, which included:

• Overhauling the entire web infrastructure to fix existing bugs
• Implementing core functionalities such as order processing and ad listing flows
• Revamping the UI to create a more modern and intuitive user experience
• Adding a multi-language feature to cater to a diverse user base
• Developing a real-time chat system to enhance buyer-seller communication
• Creating robust, secure RESTful APIs for efficient integration with the mobile app

Key Modules/Features Developed:

• Real-Time Chat System: Enabled instant communication between buyers and sellers
• Enhanced UI: Converted Static Figma to dynamic web pages to improve user experience and engagement
• Multi-Language Support: Implemented 5 multiple language options for broader market reach
• Order Flow Management: Developed a streamlined order process for efficient transactions
• Bug Resolution: Systematically fixed a range of existing bugs to stabilize the platform
• REST API Development: Created secure APIs to power mobile app integration

Results & Impact:

These improvements helped bring the client significantly closer to realizing his vision. The platform now operates more smoothly, with a modern interface and robust functionalities that support future growth.
